2017 was a great year for new restaurants in Denver. Around my neighborhood, I saw a lot of new ones come in, and sadly quite a few go.
Westworld wrote a great summary article, click here to check it out.
What were your favorite Denver restaurants throughout the year?
Snooze is one of those restaurants you hear about every time you ask someone from Colorado what their favorite breakfast place is.
Over and over I heard, “You gotta try Snooze!” “Have you gone to Snooze?” “Snooze is everything.”
Unfortunately, the first time I went I was not prepared for how deep the love of Snooze was. The wait on a Saturday morning was over two hours and I was at the level of hangry where all of my friendships would have been destroyed.
Thankfully, a few months later, I had the chance to go at an off hour.
The restaurant was pretty empty due to it being a weekday so we got a chance to talk to the waitress about Snooze and the food options.
I (unfortunately) only can have gluten free options, and was beyond happy to learn about how many options Snooze offers.
After looking everything over, I decided to go with a “Benny” (I believe it was called an Early Harvest Benny, and Benny is their slang for an eggs benedict) and a GF Strawberry Fields pancake.
I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves:
The Benny was incredible. The hash browns were perfectly cooked, the sauce was impeccable, and the veggies were fresh.
The gluten free pancake was the real treat. Rarely do restaurants make a quality pancake that’s fluffy, light, and gluten free. I now crave this pancake every single time I try to make them myself.
I now fully understand why Snooze lives up to the hype.
When a sushi place opens close to where I live, I’m always determined to visit ASAP.
It should be noted, that I also love sushi. LOVE. SUSHI. Like, in my dream world I live on it every day forever. So when sushi is good, I want to run around all of Denver telling everyone about it.
I noticed iFish + Ramen one day when I was walking up Market St one day. The first impression was that it wasn’t anywhere fancy because the outside is pretty dark with just a sign.
One day I decided it was finally time to stop in and see if it was worth it. There aren’t enough sushi spots close to where I live and one of my other favorites (iSushi on Santa Fe) is across town.
Thankfully, iFish + Ramen did not disappoint.
The sushi was fresh and the other side dishes were incredible. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves:
Did I mention that every Monday is all-day happy hour? The Alaskan roll is incredible with some sake during this time.
It’s right near Rockies stadium, which helps for anyone craving some sushi before or after a game (which I’ve done quite often).
It’s a fun little restaurant that can get quite packed on really busy days, but it’s an incredible restaurant.
Recommended: The Colorado roll, Alaskan roll, Hamachi Jalapeno, and the Ballpark roll are all incredible.
